Last night, I blogged about Chinese New Year's Eve. Today I shall talk abit about the Beginning of Spring and Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year, which is also known as Lunar New Year falls on this coming Thursday, 7th Feb 2008. Some people actually believe that 4 days before the Lunar New Year which is today, is the actual beginning of Spring. Chinese call it Li4 Chun1. Some supersitious people will credit money into their account today, so that for this following year, money will come rolling in.
For Chinese New Year, what our family does is, to wake up, bath, dress up and off we go to visit our elders. 1st stop will be picking my FIL up and we will go to my Grandma-in-law's house. We will stay for awhile then we will go to my own Grandma's house and spend the day there. I guess this is due to we are closer to my own Grandma. Lunch and dinner, we'll be having steamboat. Relatives will also come visiting. This day and for the following 15 days, we will give ang2 bao1 (red packets) to the children. I think the children are the most happy people during this occasion. They get ang2 bao1, get to eat all the goodies and stuffs.
I will definately take photos of this CNY. Do check out my blog. :)
